FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I don’t really know where to start. Is that okay?
Absolutely. Many clients come to me unsure of where to begin—what they like, what they need, or even what questions to ask. That’s where we come in. We’ll start with a conversation and take it from there, one step at a time.
I feel overwhelmed by the art world. Isn’t this kind of thing only for experts?
It can feel that way, but it shouldn’t. Working with a consultant is actually a smart, efficient way to cut through the noise. We help you clarify your taste, navigate options, and avoid expensive mistakes—whether you're buying your first piece or your fiftieth.
How do you charge for your services?
It depends on the project. We offer both flat-fee options for smaller consultations and a commission-based model for sourcing or larger curatorial work. We’ll always agree on the approach in advance—transparently, and with your comfort in mind.
Can I work with you just for framing?
Yes—and many clients do. In our view, framing and placement are an art form unto themselves. We work with trusted the best framers to offer competitive pricing, and we provide personal guidance to make sure each piece is beautifully and appropriately presented in your space.
Do I have to spend a lot of money to work with you?
Not at all. Good art doesn’t have to mean big budgets. We work with a range of price points and can guide you toward thoughtful, meaningful choices—whether we’re sourcing a new work or rethinking what you already own.
What exactly does an art consultant do?
An art consultant or art advsor helps you make confident, informed decisions about the art you live with. That might mean curating a space, sourcing new pieces, reframing existing ones, or simply helping you see what you already have with fresh eyes.
Do you only work with collectors and designers?
No. We work with people who care about their spaces—whether they identify as collectors or not. Some clients are just getting started, others are designers looking for a second set of eyes. You don’t need a label—you just need an interest in art.
What are the benefits of working with a consultant instead of doing it myself?
You get access to experience, a broad network of artists and galleries, thoughtful sourcing, and honest advice. We help you avoid missteps, refine your vision, and make decisions that feel right for your space, your budget, and your life.
Can we work together if I’m not local to the Princeton/Bucks County area?
Yes. While we love working in person, many clients connect with us virtually—especially those in New York, Philadelphia, or elsewhere. Consultations, sourcing, and framing guidance can all be done remotely, with careful communication and clear recommendations. In most circumstances there tends to be at least some in person interaction regardless of geography.
Do you only work on homes, or do you also help with office or commercial spaces?
We work on a range of spaces—private offices, workspaces, commercial settings, and home studios. Whether you're looking to bring more personality to a boardroom or warmth to a waiting room, we can help you select and place art that fits the tone, function, and flow of your space.
How do I contact you?
You can fill out the contact form on this site or email us directly at jonathan@princetonartconsulting.com. We typically respond within one business day.
I’m still intimidated by pricing. Why does art cost what it does?
It’s a fair question—and an important one. Art pricing depends on many factors: the artist’s career stage, the work’s rarity, materials, provenance, and where it’s being sold. We’ll walk you through the range of options that suit your taste and budget, and help you feel informed every step of the way. There’s no pressure to buy—just transparency and guidance.
Do you have a gallery or a collection for sale?
While Princeton Art Consulting doesn’t operate a formal gallery space, we do occasionally arrange visits to galleries, current projects, or select pieces that illustrate the kind of work we do. PAC also maintains a small inventory of available works, which are occasionally offered for sale.
